Your First Project
Let's build your first web application with Weldship. In just a few minutes, you'll have a fully functional app deployed and live on the web.
Creating a New Project
There are several ways to start a new project in Weldship. For your first project, we'll use the AI-powered prompt to describe what you want to build.
Navigate to New Project
From your dashboard, click the New Project button in the top right corner, or use the keyboard shortcut N.
Describe Your App
In the prompt field, describe what you want to build. Be as specific or as general as you like. For example:
- "A modern landing page for a fitness app with a hero section, features, and pricing"
- "A simple todo list application with dark mode support"
- "A portfolio website for a photographer with an image gallery"
Choose a Theme (Optional)
Select a design theme for your project. Themes control the overall look and feel, including colors, typography, and spacing. You can customize these later.
Generate Your App
Click Generate and watch as the AI builds your application. This typically takes 30-60 seconds depending on complexity.
Better Prompts = Better Results
Previewing Your App
Once generation is complete, you'll see your app in the visual builder. The preview shows exactly how your app will look when deployed.
Device Preview
Use the device toggle buttons to preview your app on different screen sizes:
- Desktop - Full-width desktop view
- Tablet - Tablet-sized viewport
- Mobile - Mobile phone viewport
Live Preview
The preview updates in real-time as you make changes through the AI chat. You can also click elements directly to select and modify them.
Making Changes
Use the AI chat panel to request changes to your app. Simply describe what you want to modify, and the AI will update the code accordingly.
Example requests:
- "Change the hero background to a gradient"
- "Add a contact form section"
- "Make the navigation sticky"
- "Use a different font for headings"

Deploying Your App
When you're happy with your app, it's time to deploy it to the world.
Click Deploy
Click the Deploy button in the top right corner of the builder.
Choose a Subdomain
Enter a subdomain for your app (e.g., my-app.weldship.dev). This is where your app will be accessible.
Wait for Build
Weldship will build and deploy your application. This usually takes 1-2 minutes. You'll see the progress in real-time.
Visit Your Live App
Once deployment is complete, click the link to visit your live application. Congratulations - your app is now live on the web!
